Abstract

The overarching theme of 18(4) relates to patterns and trends of organised crime on the African continent. The topic was inspired by the growing interest of African law enforcement agents, government officials and researchers in this criminal phenomenon. Moreover, the Organised Crime and Money Laundering Programme of the Institute for Security Studies is collaborating with SARPCCO (the Southern African Police Chiefs Cooperating Organisation) on a three-year research project aimed at enhancing responses of law enforcement agencies to organised crime in Southern Africa.
