Abstract

I always read nametags. My kids think I'm weird, but when we check into an hotel, the person at the front desk calls me by my name so I reciprocate. I do the same thing at a restaurant, Home Depot, and the airport. There is something about the interaction that changes when you're on a first name basis and at nine, my son is starting to see it. He and his sister (not so much my wife ...) love it when I randomly introduce my mother-in-law to the waiter at family birthday celebrations for fun.
