Abstract

Everyone knows that the credit crisis is a phrase synonymous with investment banks, credit regulators and foreign countries. It follows then that these institutions and countries have to make a co-ordinated effort to develop solutions that will provide some peace of mind to investors and the general public. The newly elected president of the United States has pledged billions of dollars to assist countries feeling the crunch and international structures and standard setters continue to explore avenues which will find resonance in reforms of financial architectures. South Africa joined the global arena some time ago and, therefore, needs to find its appropriate space in contributing to sustainable solutions.
