Abstract

For the past year the Historical Society of Cape Town has been meeting each month at the Athenaeum in Newlands, a venue that members have found to be more convenient than the Josephine Mill in respect of parking and other facilities. Meanwhile the mill (which the Society owns) has been undergoing alterations. These were carried out in response to Heritage requirements, in accordance with the mill’s non-profit-organisation status. The restaurant – “Toad Hall” – has gone, as have many of the historic building’s add-on structures.
