Regionalism, regional integration and democratization have characterized politics within and among African states in the recent times. Edited by Korwa Adar, Giovanni Finizio and Angela Meyer, this volume examines the role of regional and national parliaments, and the civil society organizations (CSOs) in Africa’s regional integration and its democratization process. Notably, continental and regional integration processes in Africa have been dominated by states, with national interests continually undermining the envisioned sense of a shared sovereignty. In addition, the role of the individual sovereigns towards integration process has been ignored, raising concerns on who exactly is being integrated between sovereign states as abstractions and the citizenry.
