A study commissioned by the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) of South Africa and conducted by Optimal Agricultural Business Systems (OABS), entitled ‘A study of the potential product development for the potential commercialization and value add to beef products’, has been released. The report examines various ways that the South African beef industry can improve beef production and exports through optimising the efficiency of the beef value chain, and the formalisation of the country’s large informal and emerging beef sector.
