Abstract

It still happens, from time to time, that when you meet people from other continents while travelling you have to explain to them that Africa is not a country, but a continent with many countries. The differences in cultures between two neighbouring African countries can be as great as the cultural differences between countries on opposite sides of the Earth. Similarly, developmental challenges African countries face are often unique to the economic, political and cultural state of a particular country. Stark contradictions even exist within countries.
