Allergic rhinitis is a common chronic disorder that may present in childhood and persist into adulthood. Although often trivialised, the disorder has a significant impact on quality of life and reduces productivity. Diagnosis is largely clinical but cognisance of the wide differential of nasal symptoms is paramount to effective management. Therapy comprises the four pillars of education, allergen avoidance, pharmacotherapy and allergen immunotherapy.
