The jubilation across the land and across all cultures in our country over the triumph of the Springboks at the Rugby World Cup tournament in Japan demonstrated how far we have come towards looking like the ‘rainbow nation’ of which Archbishop Tutu dreamed when South Africa became a democracy in 1994. However, the socio-economic disparities in our society are a threat to social harmony in South Africa today.
