Abstract

Rattlebox plants (Crotalaria spp.) are legumes (Fabaceae) which may be used as cover crops. They provide several ecosystem services such as preventing soil erosion, increasing the soil nitrogen content via symbiotic fixation, limiting weed growth and disinfecting soil through the elimination of crop pests and pathogens, particularly plant-parasitic nematodes (Wang et al. 2002).
