Abstract

This article will examine some of the reasons for unethical behaviour within the South African context - particularly within its public sector African context , but also to a lesser extent within the private sector - and will then proceed to seek some appropriate solutions to the unethical behaviour and the corruption plaguing South African society. Although the article does not claim to give exhaustive or definitive solutions to the problem(s), it nevertheless serves as a starting point for seeking sustainable solutions to a problem which could cripple the South African government as well as the economy and could radically affect the way in which the international community views Africa, and South Africa, in Africa in particular, in terms investment opportunities and trade possibilities. The main emphasis in this article is on the refining of a set of global ethics that will steer South Africa into the 21st century and will help it to stay at the cutting-edge of international developments.
