Abstract

In this issue of the , attention is devoted to a variety of themes related to human rights in particular states and in Africa more generally. Specific states covered are Kenya, Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. Some of the novel themes include the right of indigenous peoples to self-determination, discussed against the background of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples; the adoption of the Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights; and the adoption by the SADC Parliamentary Forum of a Model Law on HIV for Southern Africa.
