Abstract

Emotions are important factors in the aetiology of many diseases and may lead to organic changes. An individuals capacity to withstand frustration will depend on his emotional maturity. The immature personality - like the child-loves no one but himself and cannot withstand frustration. Sooner or later he will develop psychological or physical illness. The mature personality -characterised by self-denial is likely to remain well. National immaturity and ill-health (wars) are analogous to individual immaturity. Both can be prevented by improvement of the individual in ethical first principles.
