Abstract

An outbreak of poliomyelitis affecting two families, in each of which two cases of paralysis occurred, is descriptionbed. Clinical evidence suggested that the disease was spread by direct personal contact, during the incubation period, with one case of the first family. The investigation indicated clearly that direct personal contact with a carrier of the virus of poliomyelitis is an important method of spread of the disease and infection.
