Abstract

1. 1,500 Faecal specimens have been treated by the Zinc Sulphate Centrifugal Flotation technique and by the Centrifugal Sedimentation method in a series of parallel investigations. 2. The tabulated results show that for the detection of helminth ova, Faust's process is not as efficient as the originator claims. 3. Evidence has been produced to prove that the sedimentation test is far superior to the flotation procedure for demonstrating the presence of worm ova in stools. 4. Both processes are useful for concentrating protozoal cysts, but flotation is somewhat better than sedimentation for this purpose. 5. If Faust's technique be employed, it should be supplemented by an examination of the washed deposit, or by the ASE process.
