Abstract

The incidence of a major degree of wound dehiscence following 7,645 caesarean sections performed during the 5-year period 1960-1964 in the University of Natal's Obstetric Unit at King Edward VIII Hospital was found to be 0�27% (21 cases), This figure compares favourably with an incidence of 0�22% - 5�8% found in the literature.
