Abstract

The quality and the influence of South African medical literature during the first half of this century owes a great deal to two outstanding medical editors: Ors William Darley-Hartley and C. L. Leipoldt who, in a curious fashion, were closely related in this field of medical endeavour although their origins were so very different.
