Abstract

Martin Westcott (left), executive chairman of P-E Corporate Services, says : "Current predictions from economists range between the relatively optimistic (a 3% predicted growth rate for 2009) and the pessimistic (recession i.e., negative growth and severe job losses). What is known, however, is that we will be unable to escape the full impact of global contagion. We are in an age of globalisation and the plot of South African GDP against world GDP illustrates the strong link between these two variables since the advent of democracy in South Africa."
