Abstract

Studies have shown that alcoholic liver disease develops in women after a short duration of drinking and with a lower daily alcohol intake than in men. According to population studies men usually must take 40 to 80 grams of alcohol daily and women 20 to 40 grams daily over a period of 10-12 years to achieve a significant risk of alcohol induced liver disease.
