Extracted from text ... Multi-tasking cellphones There's an intriguing plan afoot by a consortium comprising Hewlett-Packard, Nokia and Infinity Broadcasting to introduce what they call visual radio. The technology will apparently combine the traditional over-the-air FM broadcast through a receiver included in the cellphone with text and graphics displayed on the phone's screen. Now, why are we not surprised? After all, the only things that seem to be left to incorporate into a cell phone are water-borne sewage, a beer can opener and one of those nifty little devices for getting stones out of horses' hooves.
