Here's a frightening statistic: of the 500 new magazine titles established between 2005 and 2006, 270 - more than half - are no longer printed. Clearly, there's no single factor that can be blamed for their demise; however, it's equally obvious that they may have had a stronger chance of survival were South Africa's distribution industry configured just a little differently.
