Abstract

People grumble a lot about bad ads on radio. More than they grumble about bad ads on billboards or in magazines. And it's not just because it's harder to avoid the advertising on radio than in many other media; it's because radio listeners genuinely care about their stations, and are personally offended when hideous advertising assaults their ears. They feel let down, and the only way they can express their disappointment is to switch to a different station.
