Olives glinting roundly in their oil baths; cheeses both sharp and creamy; coffee to fill your mouth with bitter deliciousness...There was a time when these delicacies were available only in specialist stores, while your local supermarket offered a far blander array. But not any more. With the focus firmly on 'fresh', local retailers are upping their game.
