Abstract

Glass-ionomers suffer from low fracture toughness and a higher rate of occlusal wear compared to other dental restorative materials. Self-adhesive, nanofilled resin coating, which provides a high hydrophilicity combined with an extremely low viscosity, accounts for a perfect seal and aims to protect the glass-ionomer against abrasive wear. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical performance of a high-viscosity glass-ionomer cement with nano-filled resin coating versus microfilled hybrid resin composite restorations in permanent teeth.
