Abstract

The very important matters of mission and are touched upon in four well-researched articles. Yousuf Dadoo presents a very readable account of the various stages of in South Africa () and makes, in the process, an important contribution to the bibliography on Islam and Muslims in South Africa. Manfred Jung writes on the expansion of Islam in the black townships of Cape Town (), and comes to the conclusion that the development of Islam in these areas is relatively young, and in terms of numbers fairly small. He does, however, add that these adherents of Islam do not in any way lack self-confidence when it comes to their role in society and in the world of Islam.
