Abstract

The pharmacist is looking for a local equivalent of Nuvo lotion, which is available in the United States of America and is indicated for the treatment of head lice. The lotion contains steryl alcohol, propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulphate and cetyl alcohol.

A 10-year old girl has two more weekly doses left of mefloquine for malaria prophylaxis. She has just presented with jaundice and has raised bilirubin levels. The doctor has tested her for hepatitis A and hepatitis B. Both tests are negative. The doctor prescribed Essentiale® for the patient and has asked the pharmacist whether the patient should complete the course of mefloquine prophylaxis.
