Abstract

The Marketing Code Authority (MCA) is a voluntary association for the self-regulation of companies that market health products in South Africa. The MCA's constitution is a "world first" in that the member companies originate from diverse sectors, i.e. innovator, generics and veterinary medicine, as well as medical device and in-vitro diagnostics. The 252 member companies joined the MCA to signify industry's commitment to ensure that health products are marketed to healthcare professionals and to the public in a responsible, ethical and professional manner.
