Twenty-eight new East and southern African species of crickets in the family Gryllidae, subfamily Gryllinae, are described, and additional data are provided for 33 other species. The new species are: Gymnogryllus amani, G. kareni, G. joburgensis, G. capensis, Neogryllopsis skukuzae, N. mirus, N. orpeni, N. capricornis, N. satarae, N. sabianus, N. limpopensis, N. pundae, N. africanus, N. messinae, N. nyandanus, N. jordani, N. ghanzicus, N. ohopohoi, Teleogryllus mosetse, Gryllus maunus, G. krugeri, G. zaisi, Velarifictorus okavangus, V. chobei, V. botswanus, V. natus, Modicogryllus pafuri and M. ngamius. New combinations are: Gymnogryllus ebneri, G. cylindricollis, Brachytrupes testaceus and B. calaharicus.
