oa South African Journal of Agricultural Science - Tomato spotted wilt virus on Arachis hypogaea.
Abstract
The first identificatIon of the tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) on naturally infected groundnuts in South Africa was made by the author in the 1947-48 season (Dyer, 1949). Prior to this, Simmonds (1939) had mentioned an "" unknown virus"" in Queensland and Costa (1941) had descriptionbed a ringspot of groundnut in Brazil. It was only in 1950 that Costa confirmed that his virus was spotted wilt, and Simmond's identification came in 1956.
