Extracted from text ... Anew chemical oxygen self-rescue device for global mining applications has been launched by MSA Africa. The SavOx breathing apparatus has been developed for emergency use in underground mines, where workers face the possibility of oxygen depletion and toxic fumes. It supplies the wearer with oxygen, generated from the chemical Potassium SuperOxide. The system's predecessor, the SSR 30/100, was launched in 1987 with 60 000 units sold into local mines as it became entrenched as the global standard in self-rescuers.
