Abstract

In all stages of the mining process, decisions are made based on the elemental composition of representative samples. Whether the task is mining exploration, mine mapping, sorting, grading, extraction, or the prevention of environmental hazards, chemical data is used to guide mining operations at every step. Obtaining accurate geochemical data quickly in order to guide operations is one of the biggest obstacles to high-productivity operations. Maintaining permanent on-site labs or dispatching samples to off-site laboratories can be expensive, untimely and impractical.
