Extracted from text ... vineyard irrigation In striving for the 'ultimate environmentally-friendly wine cellar', Deetlefs Wine Estate in Rawsonville, the Western Cape, recently installed the first fully-fledged, biological wastewater treatment plant in the South African wine industry. Deetlefs Wine Estate, which is committed to employing environmentally-friendly cleaning products, installed a SBR biological treatment plant without the use of chemicals and now produces a final effluent that meets the requirements of the National Water Act (No 36 of 1998). According to the Act, the estate is now authorised to dispose of the treated winery wastewater by irrigation to vineyard or land, with the following characteristics: ..
