Abstract

The concept of cultivating plants in environmentally controlled areas has its roots in Roman times. Further on down the line, in the thirteenth century, the world saw the construction of the first modern greenhouse in Italy. However, it is the French botanist, Jules Charles, who is often credited with building the first practical modern greenhouse.
