Abstract

South Africa, like many other developing countries, is faced with a number of socioeconomic issues that are indicative of a country striving to move into the mainstream alongside first world countries. In some areas the country is doing extremely well and in others we have to put more effort - no one said it was going to be easy, but we have to keep at it. It is also an undeniable fact that the progress of a country lies in the education and empowerment of its youth. It is essential that the true value that the youth represents be unlocked and harnessed to its full potential to enable us to achieve the desired progress as a nation and in this context youth are defined as persons up to the age of 35.
