Extracted from text ... 32 - TWA November / December 2005 The Railway Safety Regulators (RSR) has granted its first safety permit after being tasked in 2002 to develop the independent railway safety standard. This was to achieve uniformity in the management of railway safety and minimise risk. Operators were granted temporary permits in August 2004 and were given 12 months to implement a safety management system and report to demonstrate their ability to meet the SANS 3000-1:2005 requirements.
