An automotive interior material that uses a plant-based resin, polybutylene succinate (PBS), combined with bamboo fibre is set to cut CO2 emissions throughout the vehicle lifecycle. Parts made from the material will be used in the interior of a new-concept mini-car, to be launched in Japan in fiscal 2007. Mitsubishi Motors developed the product with cooperation from the Aichi Industrial Technology Institute (Kariya, Aichi Prefecture) and dubbed its plant-based resin technology, including this PBS-bamboo fibre resin, 'green plastics'.
