Abstract

Bennie van der Walt's publications on the Reformation and the practical implications of reformational thought cover an extensive body of literature. The popularity of his work testifies to his ability to formulate his thoughts clearly and systematically. This work is no exception. The fact that this work is re-issued for the third time since 1981 confirms his standing as a reformational author of importance in our country. However, considering the merits of this book, it could legitimately be asked whether it is justified to republish a work originally compiled of speeches and articles in magazines and other publications now for the third time since 1981. This question loomed at the back of my head whilst reading through the work in more detail. An honest answer to this question demands from the reader a thorough consideration of the contents, an evaluation of the merits of the work, a critical consideration of the points of departure of the work and identifying the possible target readers of the book.
