Abstract

The article comments briefly on the history of the Dramatic Censorship Library in the second half of the 19th and the beginning of 20th centuries. In 1918, after the February and October revolutions, the library was transferred to the fund managed by the Department of Manuscripts and Rare Books of the State Theatre Library. The main focus of these comments is on the subsequent fate of the 12 short pieces written by Potemkin, which are available in this fund. In the appendix to the article, four of the twelve short plays by Potemkin are reprinted with brief commentaries. The plays are: 'Kopelius's Barometer', 'Vasja', 'Wise Pharaoh' and 'Donna Anna or Ferocious Spaniard'.
