Abstract

The article explores the relationship between the art of Kruchenykh and Malevich during their cooperation when working together on the Futuristic opera which was staged in St Petersburg in 1913. The main focus remains on the philosophy that led to Malevich's theory of suprematism which underlies his set and costume designs. The artistic unity of the opera is achieved by Kruchenkh's libretto in a typical (for him) poetics of .
